New for Spring 2024 ”Crow” is handcrafted from biodegradable high-density acetate and equipped with orange, Category 3 polarized 100% UV Protective Nylon sport lenses. Made by hand from premium Bio-based, Biodegradable and Recyclable acetate from Mazzucchelli.

Acetate is derived from plant-based materials like wood pulp, so we like it better than petroleum-based plastics for structured items like eyewear and jewelry - with bonus points when its biodegradable. The manufacturing process is key to ensure responsible wood sourcing, water use, and chemical disposal.

Monokel Eyewear is a unisex sunglass label based in Stockholm, Sweden. Each fame is handcrafted in a multi-month creation using the brand’s newly created cotton- and wood fiber based acetate, 100% biodegradable materials which will decompose rather than ending up in landfills or broken down as microplastics in our oceans. All black frames continue to be crafted from recycled acetate with lenses from Carl Zeiss.

The brand philosophy stems from a mix of simplicity and functionalism, paired with an endless curiosity for the human mind and its need for creative expression.
